I’m proposing that a field be added to the User definition in SeeTest. At Quest, we could use it to track if the user is in the Test org, Development, or Product Ownership. This could help inform budget allocations to pay for the tool or any capacity upgrades. It could also help us see user trends and just to have a better understanding of where and how the tool is being used within the organization.

It would be helpful for this field, as a column, to be viewable in the Users view and Exports.

From a naming perspective, this could be made specific such as something like “User Role” or “User Group”, though “Role” may be confused with if they are an Admin or not. Alternately, the field could be named more generically (e.g. User Attribute) so organizations could apply it as they wish.

While utilization of the “Notes” field is a viable workaround, it is constrained by not being viewable as a column in the Users page. So, even if we began updating the Notes field with such information, there would be no way to quickly view which users’ data had been updated and which had not without doing an export each time until we had all records updated.

I have discussed this with Anish Dhargalkar and Steve Hire.
