Occasionally, we have a new user who will delete something inadvertently. While we know how to query that item to recreate it, it would be a lot nicer to allow an Administrator Undelete the item to restore it to the system. Maybe the admin has a view of all deleted items or is able to easily query items that have been deleted recently. This would save us time and heartache when rolling the system out to new teams in the organization.

It would be a tremendous enhancement regarding Version One to have a recycle bin where Admins and Users have the ability to restore deleted items. Novice and experienced users will from time to time inadvertently delete something they regret deleting. The ability to restore deleted items would be a welcomed feature.

Agreed! This is a common feature of filesystems, networks, and transactional databases, and noticibly absent from VersionOne. It would be great to add this functionality for the SysAdmins, as recreating information accidentally lost is very time consuming and prone to human error.

My team has worked around this issue by creating a "Deleted Items" project and just moving our stuff there instead of truly deleting things.
Maybe instead, just show a confirmation dialog box to the user that says something like "There is no undo - if you think you might want this later, please reassign this item to your Deleted Items project."
You know, rather than completely changing the way data is stored in the entire application.
This huge and happens a lot
This occured for us, and while undelete would be a benefit, it's happened once in the two years we've been working with V1, so it would be a 'nice to have' for us. Discovering you can view all the details of deleted items makes this less necessary as well, as worst case you can recreate.
We would like to see this feature, because one cannot edit related effort of a deleted item through the GUI (AFAIK).
1) Note that this feature is planned for the Fall 2010 release.
2) Removed a comment that suggested using SQL to make updates. VersionOne does not support direct SQL updates to the database. Access to data must go through the application UI or the API/platform.
This feature is available as of the Fall 2010 release:
