If you click the Add Child Backlog Item in the Breakdown Epic dialogue, it creates the item and displays the fields for editing. If you change your mind and hit Cancel, it only cancel's the editing, not the creation of the item. So you then need to delete the item or have a bunch of empty backlog items sitting there. This is not very intuitive design, and I actually thought it was a bug, but apparently this is intentional. I propose that either the Cancel button cancels the whole creation of the item. Or have both a Cancel Edit and Delete button.

  • The breakdown feature was improved in a Winter 2012 point release to handle required fields. An added benefit was that newly broken down items are not actually created until the user commits. This means that you'll have no new items in the backlog after canceling a breakdown activity.
