The new Epic Timeline is a great new visualization tool that all levels of an organization will be using. The only critical gap is the lack of a "Filter" by Epic capability. This would allow the Timeline to be filtered not only by the project tree, and epic type, but also the portfolio itself. Note, the Epic Board and Epic Tree both have this ability. This idea is to just add the "Filter" by Epic dropdown next to the existing Epic Type and Epic Status dropdowns. Ideas for additional Filtering capabilities on Epic Timeline should be submitted to the Ideaspace.

Yes, The filter in the Epic Tree which contains Teams and Owners would be very useful if implemented.

Most important here, we need to NOT show closed items. The timeline is awesome, but VERY busy with all of the closed items, it's very difficult to use.
Additional filters have been added to the epic timeline, including the ability to filter by Epic. Summer '13 has this capability.
