In product planning I would like to be able to have a calendar/sprint/month view where I can easily drag and drop epics and backlog items so the team has visibility into the roadmap. I could see a view similar to Iteration Planning > Taskboard with custom row labels (Innovation, Retirement, Customer Request, and etc.) and column labels such as Sprint or date time frame (ex. month). Other nice features include report of this view based on time frame to share to others without V1 login.

Confused by these requests.... I don't understand the second, can you clarify?
The first one seems odd. Why can't you take your prioritized product backlog and project team velocity against it. Placing it on a calendar will require extra management that adds little value. Seems a little GANTT chart like to me. The prioritized product backlog IS the roadmap! What are you trying to achieve?
I'm trying to create a view that allows me to manage and communicate requests outside of the engineering organization. I manage the "short list" of epics and backlog items today in a spreadsheet because this is easier for my executives to understand. My spreadsheet shows planned release versions and the supporting calendar with the items grouped in the swim lanes that are relevant to them.
Release scheduling contains all the relevant data but not the view. I would prefer to also have the option of managing this data and sharing it in a view similar to Taskboard as this is how I manage items on my spreadsheet. If this view exists today I don't know where.
I'm interested in a calendar view for other groups to see specific work items mostly as related to deployment. I need to notify our systems group when we're deploying and we have a number of tasks that lead up to deployment that have to be laid out over time after development work is completed.
OK, yes, the calendar view would probably be something like a Ganntt chart but we have to communicate to systems, QA etc when we are going into UAT< planning on promotoing to our Staging environment and to production. It would be great if I had a calendar view in VersionOne for those teams to just see the specific delivery dates. (Right now, I'm managing this in SharePoint but it would be easier to communicate using one tool.)
I would use this for high level reporting
The Epic Timeline, introduced in the Winter 2013 release, is aimed at the general goal described here: communicating the intended timing of upcoming epic delivery. It also includes the ability to publish that view to the outside world - beyond just the membership of the VersionOne application. If there are further improvements to add, please feel free to suggest more in other ideas.
