During sprint planning we stick story cards up on the wall to faciliate the planning session. We would like to be able to print out these story cards using a built-in standard report instead of exporting the data to Excel and then using mail merge or Crystal Reports to print out the stories in card form.

Generating printable pdf of story cards would be nice. ScrumWorks does this in a really nice manner.
Having cards instead of spreadsheet lists for planning would be help for us.
I also really want this in VersionOne. Rally provides this and it's really useful, we use it all the time. Currently in VersionOne we write out the cards because printing is such a pain.
I would like to be able to do this
1) Ticking backlog items and printing them on story cards direct from the backlog
2) Doing the same for stories and tasks within the sprint (should have a select all option).
Rally don't allow you to selectively print tasks/stories in a sprint so that would be an improvement.
I do like the way Rally does the printing generally, it's a nice size,(4 stories or 4 tasks per page) the story and task id's are all there, along with the estimate and title.
If we could have this it would make VersionOne a much better product from our point of view!
We export the backlog to excel.
Then we apply the index card generator from Henrik Kniberg: http://blog.crisp.se/henrikkniberg/2007/12/18/1197973740000.html
The whole procedure works but is quite cumbersome and it would be much better if it was supported directly from VersionOne.
Most ALM solutions provide this feature out of the box as this is a quintessential function of Scrum. I was surprised to learn that in V1 you have to jump through hoops to print a story card.
This is an interesting topic but I wonder why the need for printed cards when you have everything viewable in the tool.
The tool can never match up to the flexibility and overview you get from performing a sprint planning meeting with real paper story cards on a white board.
We use these printed story cards for release planning, which can become quite cumbersome online. It was a surprise and a shock to see that V-One does not have the print story card option!!!
An item printer, which could work with a small cut printer. Currently we implemented one by our-self and use it for release/planning and daily stand up meeting.
We could really use this. I don't have time to export the backlog. I wouldn't event mind if they coordinated to the Avery (or other label company) templates for printable index cards.
I would also like to be able to print tasks to put on the board beside the user stories.
Would be nice to have font flexibility to control the size of the font for the title of the story so that I can control the visibility of the story from a distance.
You can now print backlog items (stories, defects, test sets, tests and tasks) directly from VersionOne backlog grids. Printing from the grid means you control exactly what you want to print by filtering.
Cards are printed 4 per sheet of 8.5"x11" paper. They include title, id, description, owners with avatars, priority, estimates and a QR code. The QR code links to the item's detail view back in VersionOne allowing you to see complete & current details and perform any actions on that item.
