Although you can show/hide the left sidebar it is frequently inconvenient and almost always a waste of grid real estate. We have 2 releases in the works at any given moment so I usually have to keep the sidebar open which wastes grid spaces.

I believe most users of V1 would want to increase grid space as much as possible.

I believe that the entire sidebar could be reduced to a thin menu bar and take up much less real estate.

  • I use the project selection box and search facility the most. The rest I am not interested in seeing all the time. If these 2 items were place at the top to the right of the main buttons, then you would gain all that extra width (which is absolutely essential when displays lots of fields) and loose nothing in height.

  • Project selection has been moved to the Project Navigator, available in the top portion of the page just below the navigation. This means it's always available without having to open the left nav; so it never takes up horizontal real-estate.
