When you export a V1 backlog, it currently splits the "description" field into multiple rows in Excel (based on carriage returns, so far as I can tell). The same thing happens for other rich text fields as well. When exporting V1 backlog items, merge all description lines into a single MS Excel cell, for each distinct backlog item.

Yarrgh! This has been an absolute nightmare in the past. Yes, please, let's have a fix.
This would be a huge help! We export to excel for a number of reasons including executive approval (write us a check for this iteration and here's what we'll do) and it takes entirely too much time to clean up the file.

The Summer 2009 Release ensures all rich text field data is in a single cell when exported to Excel. All contents of the field are escaped to prevent Excel from trying to interpret the data (which causes the multiple cells), so some html tags may be included and can be cleared by a few global Find/Replace actions in Excel.
