Sometimes, when we create new backlog items (stories), we know that they are epics and want to define them as such without having to take the extra step of breaking it down and potentially discarding the new backlog item that was created as a result of it. I want to be able to Add Epic directly.

• You can do this with the API already, so I assume this would be easy to add to the product.

• This is available in the Summer 2009 Release, where you can add Epics directly through the Left Nav 'Add New' dropdown or the Epics page under Product Planning. The Excel Import also allows you to import individual Epics and/or an entire Epic tree from top to bottom (including leaf-level stories/backlog items) all at once.
