Hi,
It would be very useful for Release to have an integration with Slack so that instead of sending email notifications it sends Slack notifications. I am talking about the built in notification system (eg for when a release fails, a task is assigned to some, a task is started etc), NOT sending notifications via a task itself (eg send email notification task) as I know there is the slack community plugin for that.
Even better, it would be very useful to allow the notification system to be even more flexible by providing an URL to send notifications to, to be used, for example, by a messaging system la GCP Pub/Sub or AWS SQS. This would allow for great flexibility and consumptions of the notification as per customer needs.
The use cases are obvious - instead of relying solely on emails for notifications from Release, it would be able to send notifications to Slack channels or, even better, to any messaging system if it's flexible enough.
Thank you,
Andrei

Andrei, thank you for suggesting this idea. We're aware that some of our customers are already utilizing the Slack Community plugin, as you mentioned. We will keep track of the demand for this idea.
Just to be clear - the functionality provided by the slack community has absolutely nothing in common with the functionality I described. I am not asking for an officially supported version of that plugin.
I agree that this functionality would be a great addition. Individuals have migrated to rely more on Slack than email for interaction in a lot of cases. Having Slack notifications be an integrated part of Digital.ai Release, just like email notifications are today, would enable these individuals to maintain their existing workflow using Slack.
Like Andrei stated above, this request is about configuring Slack under the "Notifications" section of Release, not about adding a task to send a Slack notification.
Being able to define a template with standardized parameters that gets called when those events happen would be ideal. That way you could define all of the ways you want to be notified.
