As part of 23.3.x, the Jira plugin was upgraded/ enabled to use PAT authentication.

Atlassian has long ago communicated the usage of PAT instead of Basic authentication for stable API connections.

It will be good to have the PAT implementation for all the other Atlassian implementations.
Confluence maybe the next one that you could pick up and then move on towards Bitbucket/ Stash, Bamboo.
