The Confluence plugin currently requires a connection to be setup at the folder level.
We are requesting the ability to override this connection at the step level. This would allow Confluence steps to run using the credentials of the user executing the release, which is needed for several of our use cases.
This feature is available in the community version of the plugin:

We are planning to investigate the options of providing the override permissions on the task. This change is planned for 26.1 release.
